A masterpiece of design, Enzo Ferrari said that the Jaguar E-Type was the most beautiful car he had ever seen. This car is an early Series 2 and is remarkably easy to drive and delivers the feel good factor each time you take it to the road.
The engine, gearbox and the drive-train were all developed from the racing D Type which won Le-Mans in 1955, 1956 and 1957 and are totally bullet proof, with only simple regular maintenance required.
This car’s 4.2 litre 6 cylinder starts on the button and settles into a delightful pure, with a purposeful snarl when you open the throttle.
This car lived in Eire for many years and is totally original. It was purchased by the present owner at an auction sale without knowledge of her husband, when his back was turned…just because it looked nice!…and clearly she had the same level of taste as Enzo Ferrari!
Jaguar boss William Lyons launched the E Type in 1961 and thought he could see 3,000 sales in the first year. After its launch at Earls Court he had orders for over 30,000 cars. Three were requested by Albert Broccoli to be used in James Bond films, however William Lyons would not release any cars for filming purposes – we wonder if he rued that decision…
