This car was supplied new by Triumph dealer F. Mitchell Ltd of Nottingham. The car had a very intensive restoration with some period additions such as an engine rebuild by Lockstitch Engines and a Bosch fuel system as well as electronic ignition, telescopic damper conversion, and converted to unleaded fuel. There are bills for over £8500 in parts alone.
Many hours went into the restoration, during during which the body and chassis where striped back to bare metal and then treated completely with Waxoyl; there is a full photo file of this work. Whilst this was being done the colour was changed from Saffron to the current colour of Red. If we were to be really critical, the paint could be a better finish although this can be rectified by ourselves at a cost. The interior was completely retrimmed in the original Tan colour and is still in outstanding condition.
In later life the car has been looked after by TR Bitz in Warrington and has been treated to a service by them only 2000 miles ago as well as having new flat wing mirrors, poly bushes, new radio, black plenum chamber as well as a complete underside Waxoyl treatment. The car comes complete with a huge pile of invoices and history along with photo evidence of the rebuild and a British Heritage Trust Certificate to prove the complete originality of this stunning car.
With the roof down, the gorgeous straight 6 provides an aural delight.. The 2.5 litre engine generates a top speed of 119 mph and 0-60mph 8.2 seconds, meaning this classic is eminently usable on today’s roads and this car is expected to increase in value.
